Amman: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has urged for the New York Declaration, which calls for an end to the Israeli conflict in Gaza, to be transformed into practical action. He emphasized the need for concrete steps to halt the "war of extermination," expedite humanitarian aid, and begin reconstruction efforts.

According to Jordan News Agency, Aboul Gheit highlighted the necessity for any future arrangements to be based on the two-state solution, involving the Palestinian Authority's assumption of control in the Gaza Strip. This approach aims to maintain the unity of the West Bank and Gaza as a singular Palestinian territory. He proposed a gradual yet decisive deployment of Palestinian Authority forces to ensure internal security and maintain order.

Aboul Gheit called for an unconditional Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, rejecting any pretexts for buffer zones as lacking legal or legitimate justification. He firmly opposed the forced displacement of Palestinians, asserting that the Palestinian people have the right to remain in Gaza, and efforts to expel them will not prevail.

The Arab League leader underscored that any temporary force authorized by the Security Council for stabilization must be legally sound and work closely with the Palestinian Authority. This force should focus on internal security, monitoring ceasefires, ensuring Israeli withdrawal, and facilitating immediate reconstruction efforts.

Aboul Gheit concluded that these measures are essential for restoring stability in Gaza and achieving a comprehensive political solution that ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
