Rome: The Arab League has issued a stark warning regarding the expansion of Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories, asserting that such actions severely undermine the potential for peaceful coexistence between Arabs and Jews. The organization emphasized that peace remains the only viable path forward, and cautioned that Israel's ongoing activities threaten to derail future prospects for harmony in the region. According to Jordan News Agency, the Arab League expressed its position by stating that Israel's belief in achieving peace and security without recognizing Palestinian independence is fundamentally flawed. This message was delivered by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, during his speech at the opening session of the 10th edition of the "Rome Mediterranean Dialogues" conference. The event, held in the Italian capital, was attended by the Italian president along with several Arab and foreign ministers. Aboul Gheit highlighted that Israel's current actions appear to be a imed at annexing and controlling all Palestinian territories, spanning from the river to the sea. He pointed out that the ideology of the current Israeli government is deeply rooted in a settler-colonial expansionist vision. Furthermore, he warned that the alternative to this expansionist approach is the perpetuation of an apartheid system in the occupied Palestinian territories, a system that relies on violence and oppression to sustain itself, causing immense suffering for Palestinians who continue to pay the price of occupation with their lives.
