Arab Media Dialogue Forum Highlights Challenges and Opportunities for Intra-Arab Tourism

Amman:Government Communication Minister Mohammad Momani inaugurated the Arab Media Dialogue Forum, organized by the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ), on the sidelines of the Future of Media and Communication Conference, "A Changing World." The event took place on Friday evening in Amman, ahead of the conference's official start on Saturday.

According to Jordan News Agency, Momani highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation among Arab media institutions to support shared causes and development, particularly in tourism. He emphasized the role of professional and independent media in strengthening state interests and showcasing Arab potential to the world.

Tourism Minister Imad Hejazeen addressed the forum, noting the significant role of media in promoting sustainable development and tourism by highlighting the Arab world's assets. He pointed out that intra-Arab tourism remains below expectations, making up less than 40 percent of tourism, despite the region's population and attractions. Hejazeen stressed the need for joint tourism initiatives to increase tourism's economic contribution.

CDFJ Director Nidal Mansour described the forum as a critical platform for dialogue among Arab media institutions, focusing on development support and addressing challenges in the media landscape. He mentioned the significance of discussing journalists' job security amid technological advances like artificial intelligence.

The forum gathered numerous Arab journalists and media leaders to discuss media sector challenges and propose solutions to enhance cooperation and media content. Participants also emphasized using digital tools to broaden the reach and visibility of Arab tourist destinations.
