Amman: Secretary-General of the Amman-based Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Tawfiq Kanaan, stated that the Israeli occupation government employs a systematic strategy aimed at altering the identity of Jerusalem and occupied Palestine. He emphasized that this strategy is based on tactics such as imprisonment, displacement, and genocide, alongside the storming of Islamic and Christian holy sites and the implementation of an expulsion policy under military orders and Israeli court rulings.
According to Jordan News Agency, Kanaan highlighted that Israel's intensifying expulsion policy targets all areas of Jerusalem, aiming to demoralize the city's inhabitants and expel those who defend Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Old City, and other significant sites. He further described the expulsion policy as discriminatory and predicted its failure due to the resilience of the Jerusalemites.
Kanaan provided statistics indicating that the Israeli government issued approximately 2,386 deportation orders from Jerusalem between 2021 and 2025, with about 1,499 orders specifically banning Palestinians from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque. He noted that these figures are anticipated to increase significantly, with approximately 762 deportation orders already issued in the first half of 2026.
