Amman:The first Arab Worldwide Freight Alliance (AWFA) conference has commenced in Amman, uniting 100 freight and logistics companies from 18 Arab countries. The conference aims to build regional partnerships, enhance supply-chain connectivity, and open new markets for member companies.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event marks the debut of a Jordanian-Arab platform that links companies and institutions involved in freight forwarding, customs clearance, and logistics services throughout Jordan and the broader Arab region. Discussions during the conference will cover Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, the Kingdom's logistics position, challenges and opportunities affecting Arab supply chains, and the role of women in the logistics sector. Additionally, bilateral business meetings are scheduled to foster partnerships among the attendees.
Ahmad Asasleh, Director-General of the Jordan Maritime Commission, inaugurated the conference on behalf of the ministers of transport and labor. He emphasized the importance of integrated transport and logistics systems, highlighting how improvements in one area can enhance efficiency across the entire supply chain. He noted Jordan's efforts to boost the competitiveness of Aqaba Port and adapt to regional and international changes in transport and logistics.
Senate Labor and Social Development Committee Chairman Issa Murad remarked on the conference's significance in light of global shipping disruptions, underscoring the need for stronger regional logistics cooperation. He pointed out that trade and logistics are priority sectors under Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, necessitating deeper coordination among Arab countries and companies.
AWFA founder and president Odeh Ramahi explained that the alliance was established to unify Arab freight and logistics companies, enabling them to leverage their expertise and networks for shared commercial opportunities. He stressed the importance of building trust among members and transforming business relationships into tangible transactions.
Tamer Abu Saadat, AWFA Vice President, stated that the alliance aims to establish a practical platform for Arab companies to access new markets and form business and investment partnerships. The goal is to create an interconnected Arab logistics network capable of competing internationally and effectively connecting regional companies with global markets.
