Phoenix: The Supreme Court building in Arizona was evacuated after a suspicious package in the mailroom tested positive for explosives, local media reported.
According to Anadolu Agency - English, an alert was issued to the staff indicating the closure of the facility as authorities investigated the suspicious package. Local TV station ABC15 reported that court personnel were informed the package contained traces of homemade explosives.
Authorities promptly ordered a full evacuation of the State Courts Building, announcing that it would remain closed until further notice. The Arizona Department of Education, situated near the court building, was also evacuated, as reported by Arizona's Family group of stations affiliated with CBS.
The court stated that there was no estimated timeframe for the complete sweep and removal of the package. All court staff were instructed to vacate the premises as a precautionary measure.
