Army Chief, ICRC Head Discuss Humanitarian Cooperation

Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, on Thursday, received the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Jordan, Yann Fridez, at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF).

According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, which was attended by a number of senior JAF officers, the two sides reviewed avenues of cooperation and coordination between the JAF and the ICRC. The discussions particularly focused on humanitarian action, the delivery of relief assistance, and the exchange of expertise in international humanitarian law.

Huneiti emphasized the vital humanitarian role played by the ICRC in supporting victims of conflicts and disasters. He commended the level of cooperation between the two sides, which contributes to strengthening joint humanitarian efforts in line with the humanitarian values upheld by the JAF.

For his part, Fridez expressed appreciation for the significant efforts exerted by the JAF in supporting humanitarian and relief activities. He affirmed the ICRC's commitment to continuing cooperation and coordination to achieve shared humanitarian objectives.
