Army Chief, UN Coordinator Discuss Cooperation

Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, on Monday received the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, at his office at the General Command.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting was attended by several senior officers from the Jordan Armed Forces. Major General Huneiti and Ritsema-Anderson focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination frameworks, particularly in the humanitarian and development fields. Their discussions aimed to bolster national and regional efforts to promote stability and support targeted communities.

Major General Huneiti commended the United Nations for its role in addressing challenges, especially given the current regional circumstances. He emphasized the robust strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Jordan and UN agencies.

Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, the UN Coordinator, expressed her appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II in supporting peace, stability, and humanitarian efforts. She underscored the United Nations' pride in its strong partnership with Jordan.
