Aqaba: Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Shadi Majali, announced the authority's progress in implementing its strategic plan for 2024-2028, as part of its 2040 master plan.
According to Jordan News Agency, Majali outlined the plan's core objectives, which include infrastructure development, investment promotion, sustainable growth, leadership and innovation, smart city achievements, and improvements in quality of life and services, as well as institutional development. The plan aims to execute 197 major projects, focusing on the construction and expansion of Aqaba's ports and logistics services, development of smart infrastructure, initiatives to enhance environmental and health sectors, and diversification of the tourist offerings.
Majali shared these insights during a meeting with MP Ibrahim Tarawneh, head of the Lower House Al Mithaq Bloc, to discuss ASEZA's investment and development strategies. Additionally, Majali emphasized the importance of scholarship training programs to create job opportunities for Aqaba residents according to labor market needs.
Majali highlighted a recent increase in investments in sectors such as tourism and entertainment, logistics services, transport, and green hydrogen. Tarawneh, in response, noted Aqaba's unique economic and administrative status, which is a pivotal component of the national economy, and expressed the bloc's willingness to collaborate with ASEZA to fulfill its objectives.
