Australia: Australia and Indonesia have jointly condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, emphasizing that any efforts to alter the territory's demographic composition or make its occupation permanent are illegal and must cease immediately.

According to Anadolu Agency, a joint statement was issued late Thursday following the 9th Australia-Indonesia 2+2 Foreign and Defense Ministers' Meeting in Canberra. The statement called for the immediate resumption of a ceasefire, the release of all remaining hostages, and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. The ministers expressed their rejection of Israeli actions and policies aimed at taking over Gaza, changing its demographic composition, and worsening the humanitarian crisis. They emphasized the need for all parties to comply with international law, including international humanitarian law, and highlighted the importance of protecting humanitarian aid workers.

The meeting was attended by Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and their Indonesian counterparts, Foreign Minister Sugiono and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. In addition to discussing the situation in Gaza, the ministers addressed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. They reaffirmed their respect for Ukraine's sovereignty, political independence, and territorial integrity, urging the international community to support efforts to end the conflict.

The situation in Gaza has escalated significantly, with Israel having killed at least 63,000 Palestinians in the enclave since October 2023. The military campaign has left Gaza devastated and on the brink of famine. Further complicating matters, last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in the enclave.
