The new Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Glenn Miles, and his accompanying delegation visited Najaf Governorate. The Australian ambassador toured the governorate during which he met with the governor and the head of the provincial council, and then met with Ayatollah, Sheikh, Bashir al-Najafi. During his meeting with the governor of Najaf and the head of its council, he expressed his country's readiness to cooperate in the fields of agriculture and improving animal production, especially in the field of developing rice varieties that suit the environment of Najaf. Miles stressed that the security improvement in Iraq enhances the opportunities for Australian companies to enter the Iraqi market. In turn, Ayatollah, Sheikh, Bashir al-Najafi stressed during his meeting with the Australian ambassador the importance of deepening economic relations and developing the diplomatic aspect based on respect and sovereignty of countries, provided that they are far from cultural interventions that would affect the civiliz ational and cultural identity of the two friendly countries.
