Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Mohammad Khalaileh, announced the completion of a new sports complex developed under a public-private waqf partnership, marking a significant step in the ministry's sustainable development strategy. The strategy focuses on enhancing and investing in waqf (Islamic endowment) properties through flagship projects and effective collaborations with the private sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khalaileh made these remarks during the opening of the Hikma Schools Sports Complex. He emphasized the project as a successful example of cooperation between the Ministry of Awqaf, particularly through the Endowment Funds Development Department (EFDD), and private enterprises. This partnership exemplifies the ministry's commitment to utilizing waqf investments to foster economic and social development, while also providing educational and sports facilities for future generations.
Khalaileh highlighted that the sports complex is the first in a series of initiatives aimed at reinforcing the role of waqf in supporting education and societal welfare. He expressed gratitude to all partners involved in the project and expressed hope that it would set a precedent for future waqf-based development ventures.
Ihab Bali, the Director General of Hikma Schools, stated that the new sports complex aligns with the school's vision of nurturing well-rounded students who excel academically, athletically, and morally. He noted that the project materialized through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Awqaf, with the EFDD playing a crucial role as the primary supporter.
Bali further explained that the complex represents a significant advancement in the school's development, offering an integrated sports environment to cultivate students' talents and character. This initiative is in line with Jordan's modernization agenda and the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to prepare a generation that is value-driven, nationally committed, and future-ready.
The sports complex, located on a seven-dunum waqf property opposite Independence Mall, features high-standard swimming pools, modern football pitches, and various integrated sports facilities. These amenities aim to provide students with a secure and stimulating environment to enhance their skills and enrich their educational journey by combining quality education with professional-level sports infrastructure.
