Chairman of the Lower House Palestine Committee,MP Fayez Basbous, said Arab-Israeli conflict is at a “critical” stage, adding that attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque Mosque by Israeli occupation army bears political, spiritual and religious dimensions, represented by Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sanctities. The lawmaker’s remarks were made during a seminar held remotely under the theme: “Ways to Protect Al-Aqsa Mosque from Israeli aggression”, at the invitation of Head of League of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem , Sheikh Hamid bin Abdullah Al-Ahmar. Noting importance of Jordan’s “pivotal” role in supporting Palestinian people historically, Basbous added that His Majesty’s firm position to counter projects to snub Palestinian cause was a key factor in ending “Deal of the Century” project. Basbous also said House Palestine Committee presented a roadmap that was approved unanimously to adopt a recommendation to hold a conference in Amman under the theme: Political Dimensions of Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian sanctities in Countering Zionist aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque.” In addition, he stressed the need to draft action mechanisms that would directly reflect support to Palestinian people in confronting Israeli racist violations.
