Basketball Federation Withdraws U-19 Team from FIBA Match Against Israel

Amman: The Jordan Basketball Federation on Sunday announced that it had formally requested the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to cancel the scheduled match between Jordan's under-19 national team and "Israel" at the ongoing FIBA World Cup in Switzerland.

According to Jordan News Agency, in an official statement, the Federation said it had communicated its position to FIBA through official correspondence, requesting not to proceed with the fixture. FIBA subsequently agreed to the request and decided to cancel the match.

The statement indicated that, in accordance with tournament regulations, FIBA will award the result in favor of the opposing team.

The Basketball Federation stressed that its decision aligns with its principles and steadfast positions in such circumstances.
