Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index, Borsa Istanbul, began the first week of 2026 on a positive note, opening at 11,547.72 points on Monday. This marks an increase of 0.43% or 49.34 points from the previous session.
According to Anadolu Agency - English, the BIST 100 had previously risen by 2.1% to close at 11,498.38 points on Friday, with a daily transaction volume of 115.9 billion liras, equivalent to approximately $2.61 billion.
As of 10.10 am local time (0710GMT) on Monday, exchange rates were reported at 43.0420 Turkish liras to the US dollar, 50.3445 to the euro, and 57.8710 to the British pound. In the commodities market, the price of an ounce of gold was $4,418.20, and Brent crude oil was trading at $60.30 per barrel.
