Boy Drowns in King Abdullah Canal: PSD

Irbid: A 12-year-old boy drowned Sunday in the King Abdullah Canal (KAC) in Irbid governorate, Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said. In a statement, the spokesperson noted that Civil Defense diving teams in west Irbid responded to a report of the drowning incident and recovered the boy from the canal. The minor was taken to Abi Obaidah Government Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to Jordan News Agency, the PSD added that authorities have opened an investigation into the incident. Renewing calls on parents to closely supervise their children, the PSD said this guidance aims to deter them from agricultural pools, water canals and other non-swimming spaces, warning against entering such areas under any circumstances due to their life-threatening risks.
