Business Leaders Hail King’s Roadmap for Economic Reform

Amman: Business representatives welcomed His Majesty King Abdullah II's active tracking of the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV), calling his direction "essential" for driving the multi-year national economic plan forward.

According to Jordan News Agency, the royal directives will boost national competitiveness, expedite priority projects, and address investor challenges to drive growth and job creation. Ahmad Khodari, Chair of the Jordanian Exporters Association, highlighted that export-led investments are crucial for generating foreign currency inflows and expanding global market access for national products.

Ayman Alawneh, Chair of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, noted that realizing the EMV's targets requires streamlining bureaucracy, boosting public-private coordination, and implementing clear performance metrics for employment and service delivery. Economic expert Musa Saket echoed these priorities, urging a shift from managing projects to measuring direct socioeconomic impact. He advocated for reducing land costs, simplifying licensing procedures, and establishing an independent council to oversee technical implementation and remove obstacles for start-ups.

Fawaz Qattan, a member of the board of directors of the Rakhaa Businessmen Association, urged officials to build on recent global momentum, including new deals signed in China and the upcoming Jordan-Europe investment summit, to drive trade and growth. Omar Gharaibeh, a finance professor at Al al-Bayt University, said Jordan must capitalize on its economic stability to attract Gulf sovereign wealth funds. Securing that capital, he added, hinges on offering fully bankable projects with clear feasibility studies in sectors like energy, water, logistics, and tourism.
