The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Khasawneh, on Thursday approved the Public Sector Modernization’s roadmap and its executive program for 2022-2025.

Addressing the Cabinet session, Khasawneh affirmed the government’s commitment to achieving the desired outcomes from the Public Sector Modernization roadmap in realizing an “efficient and effective” public sector and restoring its the “brilliance,” which has made “great” contributions to Jordan’s development process and many Arab countries over the past decades.

The PM also stressed that the roadmap is “vigorous, flexible and capable” of realizing modernization and development, and is open to any positive improvements.

There will be stages to review, revisit and improve the recommendations contained in the roadmap. according to the progress of work in its implementation and solution of any legal, institutional, or other administrative or technical obstacles, he pointed out.

In this regard, the Cabinet approved the formation of Higher Ministerial Committee to follow up implementation of the Public Sector Modernization’s executive program for 2022-2025.

The committee brings together Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Minister of Interior, Minister of State for Media Affairs, Minister of State for Legal Affairs and President of the Civil Service Bureau.

In addition, the Council of Ministers agreed to launch a unit for management and implementation of Public Sector Modernization’s executive program and digital transformation at the Prime Ministry and move forward with the procedures to enable the new entity to embark on its work.

The unit will be tasked to outline the annual detailed plan for the roadmap’s first phase to be then approved by Council of Ministers before the end of 2022.

The Cabinet also decided to task Government Performance and Achievement Follow-up Unit at the Prime Ministry to follow up on work progress in the Public Sector Modernization’s executive program.

Earlier, PM Khasawneh has announced the roadmap features executive programs over a 10-year period. The first phase covers 2022-2025 period, followed by two executive packages over a 3-year period each.
