Amman: The Delegation of the European Union to Jordan, in collaboration with the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and the Factory Platform - Jordan Art Residency and Studios (JARS) Program, has announced a call for applications for the People, Land, Memories photography residency. This seven-day creative residency invites emerging photographers from Jordan and the European Union to participate in an exploration of identity, place, and memory.
According to European Union, the residency will take place from April 14-22, 2026, in Amman, Jordan. It will bring together fifteen photographers from Jordan and EU Member States for an immersive artistic experience. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, create, and collaborate with mentors and local communities. The residency will conclude with a group exhibition at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, showcasing new perspectives and shared narratives. Proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to a local Jordanian non-profit organization that supports art and culture.
The residency aims to foster collaboration between European Union and Jordanian photographers, providing mentorship, creative growth, and professional exposure. It will also explore stories of identity, memory, and belonging while engaging with local communities to amplify shared experiences. The event will culminate in a curated public exhibition of the residency outcomes.
Eligible applicants include citizens of Jordan and citizens or residents of EU Member States. Applicants must have an artistic portfolio demonstrating photographic skill, an interest in intercultural dialogue and collaborative creation, and a good command of English or Arabic, depending on their origin.
The residency includes travel expenses, accommodation, and daily expenses for participants. EU participants will receive 200 euros per day, while Jordanian participants from outside Amman will also receive 200 euros per day. Jordanian participants residing in Amman will receive 70 JOD per day for daily expenses. All participants will have access to masterclasses, mentoring, production support, and a group exhibition at the National Gallery, along with a certificate of participation.
