Amman: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship has unveiled the "Career Accelerator" Program, a significant initiative with the participation of Jordanian universities, global certification providers, and both public and private sector institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, highlighted during the launch event that the program exemplifies a collaborative model between the government, universities, and the private sector. The initiative aims to create a sustainable system that addresses the digital skills gap and connects students effectively to the labor market.
Minister Smeirat emphasized that the program serves as more than just a training platform. It acts as a practical bridge linking academic knowledge with real-world experience, incorporating professional accreditation into university life. He urged for the expansion of this model across Jordanian universities and regions to ensure equal opportunities and enhance the readiness of Jordanian youth for the digital economy.
Rashed Momani, Managing Director of the Middle East at Kaspersky, expressed pride in collaborating with the Ministry. He noted that education is a core pillar for Kaspersky, and this partnership underscores a commitment to equipping students with the skills needed to succeed in their careers and contribute to the country's cybersecurity landscape.
The program is part of the Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) Project, designed to enhance youth's digital skills and connect them to genuine job market opportunities. Kaspersky, a global leader in cybersecurity, was announced as a new provider of accredited international certifications within the program. The company will deliver advanced technical workshops and interactive simulations in corporate cybersecurity, boosting students' capabilities in this crucial field.
The program's vision includes training 3,000 students from various Jordanian universities in specialized technical and job skills and qualifying 72 university trainers. It plans to award 2,500 basic global certificates and 500 advanced technical certifications to beneficiaries. Additionally, the program aims for at least 60% of participants to secure a job opportunity or generate sustainable income within six months of completing their training.
