ENEMY ARTILLERY SHELLING TARGETS THE OUTSKIRTS OF TAIR HARFA, SHIHIN, AL-JABAIN, THE VICINITY OF AL-FARDIS


Hostile artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of the towns of Shihin and Al-Jabain in the western sector in south Lebanon, our correspondent reported on Wednesday.



Enemy artillery also shelled the outskirts of the town of Tair Harfa, and the vicinity of the town of Al-Fardis.



A shell fell in the middle of Al-Fardis town on the main road, without exploding.

PSP HEAD BROACHES LATEST LOCAL AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENTS WITH EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR


Progressive Socialist Party Head, MP Taymour Jumblatt, on Tuesday received at his Clemenceau office, the new Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, in the presence of MPs Akram Chehayeb and Wael Abou Faour, as well as PSP Vice President Zaher Raad, and MP Jumblatt’s Advisor Houssam Harb.

Discussions reportedly touched on the latest local and regional developments, especially the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

Talks also touched on the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Egypt.

BERRI BROACHES LATEST DEVELOPMENTS WITH MIKATI, MEETS UNRWA GENERAL COMMISSIONER, CALLS PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES FOR JOINT SESSION UPCOMING MONDAY


House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday received at the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh, Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, with whom he discussed the latest political and field developments in the country.

On emerging, Premier Mikati said he briefed Speaker Berri on the outcome of his contacts and meetings he held abroad over the situation in Lebanon and the developments in the region.

Speaker Berri later received UNRWA Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini, in the presence of the Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon, Dr. Dorothy Klaus, with discussions touching on the general situation in Lebanon and the region amid the escalating Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, as well as the Agency’s work programs concerning Palestinian refugees.

On the other hand, Speaker Berri called the parliamentary committees of Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, Education and Higher Education and Culture, National economy, Trade, Industry and Planning, Foreign and Emigrants’ Affairs, Human Rights, W
omen and Children, to meet in a joint session at 10:30 am next Monday, December 11, in order to study items on agenda.

Acting Director General of General Security, Brigadier General Elias Baissari, on Tuesday received in his office, UNRWA Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini.

Discussions reportedly touched on the conditions of the Palestinian refugees inside the camps in Lebanon, and the Agency’s role in providing services to alleviate their suffering.

“STRONG REPUBLIC” DELEGATION TO VISIT MP RIFI THIS AFTERNOON DELEGATED BY GEAGEA


A delegation from the “Strong Republic” parliamentary bloc, delegated by Lebanese Forces Party Chief Samir Geagea, will visit MP Ashraf Rifi, at 3.00 p.m. this afternoon, at the latter’s residence in Ashrafieh.

The delegation includes MPs Fadi Karam, Ghayath Yazbek and Elie Khoury, as well as LF Assistant Secretary-General for electoral affairs, Jad Damian, and the party’s Central Council member, Fadi Mahfoud.

BERRI RECEIVES INDEPENDENCE CONGRATULATORY CABLE FORM HIS ARMENIAN COUNTERPART, DISCUSSES COOPERATION BETWEEN LEBANON AND WORLD BANK WITH WB’S CARRET


House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday received at the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh, Armenian Ambassador to Lebanon, Vahagn Atabekyan, who conveyed to him a message from his Armenian counterpart, Alen Simonyan, in which he congratulated him on the occasion of Lebanon’s Independence Day.

The visit was a chance to discuss the current general situation in Lebanon and the region.

Berri later received the World Bank Country Director for the Middle East Department, Jean-Christophe Carret, over cooperation between Lebanon and the World Bank, especially the social protection project.

Speaker Berri also received a delegation from Al-Qassar family, including Adel, Nabil and Nadim al-Qassar.
