BERRI RECEIVES BEIRUT BAR ASSOCIATION DEAN, SHEIKH AL-KHATIB, MOUNT LEBANON GOVERNOR


House Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday received at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh the Beirut Bar Association Dean, Fadi Masri.

Speaker Berri also received the Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib,

Among Ain El-Tineh’s itinerant visitors for today had been Governor of Mount Lebanon, Judge Mohammed Al-Makkawi.

Hammam Hamoudi, to Secretary General of the Iraqi Islamic Party: Preserving balances is the guarantee for the stability of Salah al-Din

Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, President of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, met with Rashid Al-Azzawi, Secretary-General of the Iraqi Islamic Party, and his deputy, Ammar Youssef, and they discussed, in the presence of Salah al-Din Provincial Council member Ammar al-Baldawi, developments in the Iraqi arena, and developments in the political movement in Salah al-Din.

In a statement, Sheikh Hamoudi stressed the importance of adopting a spirit of positive dialogue between the political components of Salah al-Din Governorate, and maintaining balances through participation in responsibilities, considering this the true guarantee of the governorate’s stability, through the sharing of roles and opportunities for cooperation to advance reality and serve its people.

For his part, Al-Azzawi considered the ongoing dialogues a state of positive awareness to give priority to the public interest, build understandings and crystallize visions that enhance the chances of completion and success of the government’s program.

Head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, on Monday received at his Bayyada residence, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Lebanon, Ahmed Al Saidi, in the presence of MP Ghassan Atallah and Foreign Relations Officer Tarek Sadiq.

Discussions reportedly dwelt on political developments in the region, the Lebanese-Omani relations, and ways to strengthen them.

The Founding Committee of Government Hospitals Employees, along with Caretaker Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Al-Abiad, on Monday discussed an array of key issues.

Minister Al-Abiad praised hospital staff’s dedication and reaffirmed support for government hospitals, promising increased financial aid and privileges.

The meeting addressed concerns such as productivity decrees, medical coverage, school grants, and shift policies, with the minister emphasizing clarity and adherence to existing directives.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers stresses the importance of the role of endowments in strengthening national unity

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Hamid Naeem Al-Ghazi, received the head of the Sunni Endowment Office, Mishaan Al-Khazraji, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Al-Ghazi stressed ‘the importance of the roles played by endowments, including the Sunni Endowment, in strengthening the foundations of national unity, by adopting moderate discourse that enhances the values of tolerance in society.’

For his part, Al-Khazraji praised the role of the General Secretariat of the Coordinating Council of Ministers, its cooperation with the Sunni Endowment Office, and the expansion of the scope of cooperation in many important areas that support the role of the Endowments in building a strong and cohesive national society.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESIDENT URSULA VON DER LEYEN IN BEIRUT


European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Beirut on May 2nd 2024 together with President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

They will head to the Grand Serail for a meeting chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, then to Ain el Tineh for a meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

LEBANESE DELEGATION, LED BY MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, CONDEMNS ISRAELI AGGRESSION AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN JORDAN


During the proceedings of the 11th International Cooperative Conference for Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, attended by representatives from 52 countries, the Lebanese delegation, headed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan, strongly denounced the aggressive actions carried out by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

The delegation called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged for prompt assistance to be provided to over 800 cooperatives in occupied Palestine, as advocated by representatives of the International Cooperative Alliance.

Announcing the formation of a new parliamentary coalition to approve important legislations

A group of independent MPs and representatives of various blocs announced today, Monday, the formation of the (Parliamentary State Support Coalition), which includes about 25 MPs from various governorates, to work on approving important legislation within the House of Representatives.

The MPs in the Coalition agreed to name MP Yousif Al-Kalabi as head of the parliamentary bloc and Faleh Al-Khazali as secretary-general of the coalition.
