Higher education min. affirms strength of Egyptian-British relations in scientific research

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Tuesday August 1st asserted the depth of relations between Egypt and the UK especially in the domain of higher education and scientific research.

The minister pointed out to the time-honored cooperation between the two countries, as well the prospective open vistas for furthering this cooperation.

Ashour made the remarks while receiving the British Ambassador in Cairo Gareth Bayley and accompanying delegation for talks on boosting joint cooperation and cross-border education.

The minister hailed the successful joint cooperation programs between the two sides recently, along with sealing a set of agreements and MoUs in the scientific research domain.

Registration of students born in September-December 2017 begins

Registration of children born between September and December 2017 for the first grade of the academic year of 2023-2024 has started at the Education Ministry’s Hall in Isa Town.

Today was devoted to the enrolment applications of those born in September 2017.

On the occasion, Education Minister, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak Juma, said that the decision was taken by the Ministry following the approval of the Cabinet, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He indicated that the move confirms the great interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in developing education in the kingdom.

Dr. Juma made the statements while visiting the Education Ministry’s Hall, to be assured about the smoothness of the registration process.

The registration of the remaining children will be as follows:

– Sunday, July 23: Children born in October 2017.

– Monday, July 24: Children born in November 2017.

– Tuesday, July 25: Children born in December 2017.

– Wednesday and Thursday, July 26-17: Children who have missed their registration dates.

PM checks on Tawjihi students in Mafraq

As part of his ongoing field tours and inspection visits, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh visited the Mafraq Governorate to check on the progress of the General Secondary School Examinations, also known as Tawjihi. The premier also visited Al Albayt University in Mafraq Governorate to patronize a celebration marking the 30th anniversary of the university’s founding, taking part in dialogues with students to discuss Jordan’s political, economic, and administrative reforms. While touring the Tawjihi exam halls, Khasawneh emphasized the significance of Tawjihi as a pathway to guide the academic and practical future of students, reiterating the government’s commitment to developing and meeting the aspirations and modernization requirements of the students. He also commended the Ministry of Education’s efficient role in ensuring the smooth sailing of Tawjihi exams, as well as the Public Security Department personnel’s efforts in creating the appropriate atmosphere for high school students to perform their exams.

Education Ministry attends ABEGS-OECD meeting

The Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) held a work meeting with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France. Undersecretaries representing the GCC Ministries of Education attended.

Education Ministry Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies and Performance Nawal Ibrahim Al Khater attended the session which focused mainly on joint areas of cooperation.

The ministry’s delegation met the ambassador of the ABEGS member countries and discussed was of developing relations with the The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

iGA organises workshop on Education Indicators and Education Expenditures Form

The Statistics and Population Directorate at the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), in partnership with the GCC Statistical Center (GCC-Stat), organised a workshop on education indicators and the application form of Education Expenditure.

The workshop aimed at strengthening the GCC cooperation and highlighting the importance of exchanging and presenting international indicators that supports sustainable development in educational sectors across the GCC.

The event focused on key areas, including participants’ capacity building on methodologies endorsed by UNESCO and other sources to calculate education expenditure in the public and private sectors, as well as civil society.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of calculating national education indicators based on international standards and benchmarking them with other countries across the world. This helps determine Bahrain’s position in global statistical rankings and identify areas in need of improvement.

The workshop, facilitated by formerly UNESCO expert Yousif Falah Ismail, enhanced participants’ skills in calculating and categorizing education expenditure data in the Kingdom. This involved measuring salaries and wages for both teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the expenditure on public education from capital and operational sectors, households and the private sector.

The workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, the Ministry of Education, and the Secretariat General of the Higher Education Council.

The workshop’s sessions discussed topics including a general framework of education statistics based on UNESCO methodologies, calculation methods for gross and net enrollment rates, and the definition of full and part-time teachers.

The workshop also addressed methodologies for constructing the cohort education system and its application in calculating education efficiency. Additionally, it reviewed indicators related to Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 (Quality Education) and outlined calculation methods for it and related issues.

Education Ministry, Samsung Electronics sign MoU

The Ministry of Education has today signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung Electronics.

Under the deal, the two sides will cooperate to step up the use of technology in delivering the ministry’s goals in the fields of digital empowerment and artificial intelligence.

The agreement also aims at providing opportunities for evaluation and experimental use of products and technology available by students and teachers, in addition to holding technical workshops and training courses.

Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies and Performance Nawal Al Khater sealed the deal with Doohee Lee, representative of Samsung Electronics.

The ceremony was also attended by Bin Hindi Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer and board member Abdulaziz Abdulla bin Hindi, Assistant Undersecretary for Services Haitham Isa Al Sahli and other specialists.

A specialized workshop was held on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, focusing on the company’s most important products and innovations in the field of education, next-generation technology, and the future smart projects.

It also highlighted the company’s successful strides in the field of using smart devices in education, outlining ways of optimizing such advanced devices in the educational process.

Under patronage of HH Sh. Khalid, 223 graduate from BOA programmes

Under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, the Bahrain Olympic Academy (BOA) held a graduation ceremony for 223 graduates from its technical and administrative courses.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, GSA Vice President; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and BOC Vice President; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Education Minister; Dr. Abdul Rahman Askar, GSA CEO; Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, BOC Secretary General; Dr. Nabeel Taha, BOA director and a number of guests.

HH Shaikh Khalid presented the certificates to graduates from the following programmes: sports management diploma; 1-4 levels of the National Programme for Coaches; the second batch of the physical literacy programme and other specialised courses.

HH Shaikh Khalid also honoured sponsors and contributors; Education Ministry,Tamkeen and Mahzooz Al Khaleej.

HH Shaikh Khalid commended the efforts of BOA in conducting specialised sports programmes and courses that are aimed at the development and capacity building of coaches and administrators, who are engaged in supporting the development of sports talents and creating stars.

HH said the number of graduates indicated the status of BOA which cooperates with local and international instructors and has partnerships with international institutes and universities, to create a line up of outstanding coaches and administrators who succeeded in holding key sports positions, locally and internationally.

HH Shaikh Khalid wished the graduates further success and urged them to pursue further educational programmes and training to continue developing their skills and contribute to the progress of the sports scene in Bahrain.

BOC Secretary General said he was pleased this number of BOA graduates from inside and outside Bahrain.

With the directives of HH Shaikh Khalid, BOA will witness a significant development of its programmes and courses, he said.

News programmes will focus on social media, digital marketing and media from a sports perspective, he said.

He added that the development of the performance of BOA will cover administrative, financial and technical aspects, as well as building a strong partnership with the International Olympic Academy.

Al Kooheji thanked HH Shaikh Khalid for his support and his directives to allocate a new administrative building for the academy in Isa Sports City.

On his part, Dr. Taha said the academy was envisaged by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who instructed the establishment of the Bahrain Sports Institute in 1981 when he was Crown Prince and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

145,458 students to sit Tawjihi exam next Tuesday-Education Ministry

145,458 students are scheduled to sit for General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) on its first day next Tuesday, according to Ministry of Education Spokesperson Ahmed Masafeh. In a statement on Sunday, Masafeh said a total of 189,410 regular students will take the exam, including 63,139 private-study applicants, adding that 1,856 examination halls in 766 centers were prepared for this purpose. The ministry had previously affirmed completion of preparations to hold Tawjihi exams, which would end on July 25.

Bahrain, Oman review cooperation in professional and technical sectors

Representatives from Labor Ministry, Education Ministry, and Nasser Vocational Training Center (NVTC) met with Omani delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, to discuss cooperation.

The meeting reviewed exchanging expertise between the Omani ministry and NVTC, and the development of partnership between the two countries to benefit from the promising opportunities in the GCC region for the professional and technical sectors.

This comes upon the announcement of Oman’s Education Ministry about offering vocational and technical education in schools, starting from the upcoming academic year 2023-2024.

Dr. Abdulla Naser Al Noaimi, NVTC Executive Director affirmed the center’s efforts that focus on supporting various industries and sectors, and providing students with skills that suit the needs of the labor market.

Dr. Al Noaimi added that the center, with the support and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, seeks to implement the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 by developing specific plans and initiatives that achieve this vision.

He pointed out that NVTC under the continuous support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of NVTC, offers multiple specializations such as technological innovation that include artificial intelligence and cloud computing, the engineering track that combines energy sciences and engineering, sports and business administration.

The death of an educational lecturer in a run-over accident in Diyala

An educational lecturer was killed in a run-over accident north of Baquba, the center of Diyala Governorate.

A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that an educational lecturer died in a run-over accident near the village of Abu Tamr, on the outskirts of Al-Khalis, north of Baquba.

He added that the victim’s body was transferred to the forensic medicine department, while the security authorities opened an investigation into the accident.
