Chamber: Industrial Production Steady, July Shows Gains

Amman: Jordan's industrial production rose 1.22 percent in July compared with the same month last year and climbed 4.61 percent from June, the Jordan Chamber of Industry said, citing improved momentum in manufacturing activity.

According to Jordan News Agency, Deputy Director-General Ishaq Arabiyat stated that the July figures indicate a broader pickup in industrial output. Manufacturing, which accounts for about 88.7 percent of the weight of the industrial production index, experienced a 2.01 percent rise in output year-on-year and a 4.29 percent increase from June. Arabiyat described this as a tangible improvement in the country's leading industrial sector.

The chamber remains optimistic about the sector's performance in the coming months, Arabiyat noted, highlighting July's stronger indicators along with solid industrial export growth anticipated in 2026. He pointed out that the trend reflects sustained demand for Jordanian goods and the industry's ability to reach foreign markets despite regional and international challenges.

Arabiyat expressed hope that the continued growth in exports and improving economic activity would translate into stronger industrial production levels in the upcoming months, with clearer improvements in industrial indicators by the end of the year. He cited ongoing programs under the Economic Modernization Vision and measures aimed at boosting industrial competitiveness, stimulating investment, and increasing production.

The Department of Statistics (DOS), in its monthly report, indicated that the general industrial production index rose 0.21 percent for the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period last year. On a monthly basis, the index increased 1.22 percent in July from a year earlier and 4.61 percent from June. The index for the seven-month period stood at 88.53, up from 88.35 in the same period of 2025.
