Chief Prosecutor Issues Circular to Expedite Probe in Food, Drug Cases

Amman: Public Prosecution Presidency has instructed public prosecutors to conclude investigations into violations committed in contravention of the provisions of the Food and Drug Law and follow up on their proceedings at the competent courts. In a circular issued by the Chief Prosecutor, Dr. Nayef Samarat, emphasized the importance of litigating these cases and following up on the rulings issued in their regard.

According to Jordan News Agency, under this process, the litigation effort would also review and appeal lawsuits as appropriate to ensure application of the law and hold violators accountable. On its goals, the circular comes within the framework of efforts aimed at strengthening oversight on the food and drug sectors to ensure the citizens' safety and enhance role of the Public Prosecution in enforcing relevant legislation.
