Amman: Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Regent, honored several distinguished Islamic scholars on Wednesday at the 19th General Conference of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought (RABIIT). The ceremony, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, celebrated the scholars' contributions to defending Islamic causes.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy, and RABIIT's chairman of the board of trustees. The Crown Prince awarded Royal medals to several scholars and presented RABIIT fellowship certificates to others.
His Royal Highness conferred the Order of Al Nahda of the First Degree on Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayya of the United Arab Emirates. The King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein Order for Distinction of the First Degree was bestowed upon Osman Bakar of Malaysia, Shaikh Ahmed bin Saud al Siyabi of Oman, and Ahmed Shawki Benbin of Morocco.
Fellowship certificates were awarded to prominent figures such as Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy in Jeddah Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Jordan's Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalaileh, and several holders of Integral Chairs for the Study of renowned Islamic scholars' works including Abdul Rahman Ammoura, Mustafa Abu Sway, Ahmad Al Zoubi, and Farouk Hassan. The conference, held in Amman over three days under the theme "The Ummah's Priorities for the Next 25 Years (2026-2050)," gathers a diverse group of scholars and researchers from various schools of thought, including both Muslim and non-Muslim nations, to deliberate on contemporary Islamic issues and propose insights and solutions.
More than 70 scholars from the Royal Aal al-Bayt Academy, representing institutions from all Islamic sects, schools of thought, and intellectual traditions across 30 countries, are participating in this significant event. The ceremony was also attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain.
