Dead sea: The Jordan Free and Development Zones Group (JFDZ) has completed the construction of additional sports fields at the Dead Sea Corniche and opened them to the public and visitors during the summer season, expanding the recreational facilities available at the site.
According to Jordan News Agency, the move comes as part of efforts to develop the Corniche's tourism and sports infrastructure and improve the services offered to visitors. In a statement issued on Wednesday, JFDZ Chairman Sakhr Ajlouni said the group is continuing to develop the Dead Sea Corniche as an integrated tourism, recreational, and sports destination that meets the needs of citizens and visitors while supporting tourism and investment activity in the area.
Ajlouni stated that the group's goal is to establish the Corniche as a destination that combines recreation, sports, and investment, reflecting national efforts to enhance public facilities and improve the quality of services. He encouraged local and foreign investors to benefit from the investment opportunities available at the Dead Sea Corniche, noting the increasing visitor demand since its opening.
The Corniche includes a 1.2-kilometer walkway, a cycling path, family seating areas, sports and recreational zones, children's playgrounds, and an outdoor theater with a capacity of approximately 2,500 people for cultural and artistic events. It also includes green spaces, service facilities, and parking areas that can accommodate more than 1,200 vehicles.
The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the Dead Sea's position as a tourism and investment destination in Jordan and the region. The Dead Sea Corniche is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., except Mondays and Tuesdays.
