Deal to Build Concrete Plant in Aqaba Inked

Aqaba: Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Modular Concrete Industries Company (MCC) signed an agreement on Monday to launch a factory in Al-Shamiyah area to produce precast concrete panels and hollow-core slabs on a 60-dunum site. The agreement was sealed in the presence of ASEZA Chairman Shadi Majali.

According to Jordan News Agency, the concrete batching plant will boost Aqaba's industrial base, expand the use of modern construction technologies, improve construction quality, reduce reliance on imports, and provide local production capacity to serve construction projects in Aqaba and the southern region. Mohammad Abu Omar, ASEZA Economic Affairs and Investment Commissioner, highlighted these benefits during the announcement.

MCC General Manager Ammar Alkelani stated that the factory, a JD3 million investment, will create about 140 jobs. The facility will produce precast concrete wall panels, hollow-core slabs, and concrete partitions for residential, industrial, and development projects. Alkelani emphasized that the project incorporates environmental and public safety measures by recycling concrete waste and treating and reusing washing water, which supports sustainable industrial development in Aqaba.
