Death Toll of Israeli Attack on Southern Lebanese Residents Rises to 22

Beirut: Twenty-two Lebanese citizens were killed, and 124 others injured, including nine children and a paramedic, in a revised toll announced by Lebanon's Ministry of Health following an Israeli attack on Sunday targeting convoys of southern Lebanese residents returning to their towns after the ceasefire deadline expired.

According to Jordan News Agency, a Lebanese security source revealed that the Lebanese army accompanied citizens into 18 towns, where residents of Maroun al-Ras, Yaroun, and Aita al-Shaab set up tents outside their homes, vowing to stay despite the lack of basic living necessities.

The source added that an Israeli force, backed by a Merkava tank and a bulldozer, launched a counter-advance toward a gathering of residents in Meis al-Jabal, where Israeli soldiers fired heavily in their direction.
