Defense Minister thanks forces for foiling smuggling, border infiltration attempts

Minister of Defense and Military Production General Abdel Meguid Sakr commended on Monday 5/8/2024 personnel of the Western Military Zone for the efforts they deploy to foil attempts of smuggling and border infiltration as well as fending off the country against any threats. The statements of the general commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces came during a visit to the zone where he met with a number of officers. In his speech, General Sakr stressed that "the Egyptian Army is strong and wise, and that its main mission is defending the borders of the Egyptian state, protecting the properties of its great people, and maintaining security and stability in order to accomplish development." The defense minister, accompanied by Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Ahmed Khalifa, inspected a number of checkpoints on the western borders, while flying in a helicopter, to ensure their readiness and capability to carry out missions.
