Amman: The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has announced that voters will have the option to use either digital national IDs through the "Sanad" mobile application or traditional physical ID cards in the upcoming elections.

According to Jordan News Agency, this announcement was made by the commission's chief commissioner, Mousa Maaitah, during a media briefing, which was also attended by Civil Status Department Director Ghaith Tayeb and commission board members. The IEC has successfully digitized all phases of the electoral process in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Civil Status Department, a move that aligns with Jordan's national digital transformation strategy.

Maaitah emphasized the commission's commitment to adopting modern technologies to enhance election management. This initiative aims to improve and streamline electoral procedures, thereby reducing the possibility of human error. He also highlighted that integrating digital processes would save significant time and effort for all parties involved in the electoral process.
