Amman: The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department (DVLD), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, has unveiled plans for a public auction of exclusive vehicle license plate numbers. Proceeds from this auction will be directed to the Student Support Fund, offering financial assistance to students in need.
According to Jordan News Agency, the auction will feature a selection of high-demand license plates, including single-, double-, triple-, quadruple-, and quintuple-digit combinations. Some of the standout numbers up for bid include (1-4), (1-20), (1-33), (1-66), (1-88), (1-7), (1-777), (1-666), (1-101), (1-10001), (1-9999), (1-33333), (1-8888), (1-70000), (1-44444), and (1-55555).
Details regarding the specific numbers, conditions, deposits, and starting prices are accessible on the DVLD website under the media center’s announcements page. Interested parties can also access this information via a QR code link. The DVLD assures that deposits required for participation are refundable.
The live auction is scheduled for Monday, September 29, 2025, at 4 p.m. at the St. Regis Hotel in Amman, near the Fifth Circle. The event is open to Jordanians with a national ID number, foreign nationals with a personal number, and authorized representatives, provided they fulfill the deposit requirement and present proof to the DVLD.
A deposit of JD30,000 per license plate number is necessary for bidding. Should a participant not succeed, their deposit can be rolled over for future numbers or refunded at the auction’s conclusion. Participants wishing to continue bidding must submit a new deposit for each additional number they wish to pursue.
Deposits can be made in person at the DVLD’s Marka headquarters to obtain an electronic payment code, through a bank transfer to the specified IBAN, or via a certified bank cheque made out to the DVLD director.
The DVLD emphasizes that attendance at the auction signifies acceptance of its terms and conditions. Only those who have submitted the required deposits or their authorized representatives will be granted entry.
Winners of the license plates may choose to register the purchased number under their own name or another’s, provided that a written request is submitted to the auction committee on the same day of the auction.
