EDCO Partners with ElementsX to Enhance Network Monitoring Using Drone Technology

Amman: The Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO), a public shareholding company, has entered into a cooperation agreement with ElementsX, a specialist in drone solutions, to incorporate advanced drone technology for the regular inspection and monitoring of its electricity networks and facilities. This initiative is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and safety standards.

According to Jordan News Agency, ElementsX will supply EDCO with high-resolution aerial photography of company sites and continuous monitoring of long-distance distribution lines. The partnership will also facilitate the early detection of potential faults, malfunctions, and hazard points, as stated by EDCO General Manager Reem Hamdan. The services will include advanced analytical reports based on thermal and visual data, enabling maintenance teams to make quicker and more precise decisions.

The collaboration will support the development of updated digital databases of network routes and components, which will streamline monitoring and future planning. This agreement is part of EDCO's ongoing efforts to modernize operations and utilize AI-powered drone technologies that have shown significant reductions in inspection time and costs, improved fault detection accuracy, and enhanced predictive maintenance capabilities.

These systems are designed to monitor indicators such as overheating, corrosion, and vegetation encroachment before they result in faults or power outages. Through this partnership, EDCO aims to bolster network reliability, improve service quality for subscribers, and elevate occupational safety standards by reducing reliance on manual inspections in challenging locations, replacing them with secure, digitally advanced monitoring solutions.
