Education Ministry and UNESCO Collaborate on Vocational Education in Southern Jordan

Aqaba: The Ministry of Education recently organized a consultative workshop in Aqaba Governorate, engaging representatives from the private sector in the southern region to explore collaboration opportunities in vocational and work-based education fields.

According to Jordan News Agency, the event is part of a four-year joint initiative with UNESCO and Global Affairs Canada, titled "Transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Jordan." This project is designed to enhance Jordan's vocational education system to better meet labor market needs and address unemployment and gender disparity.

During the event, Hisham Rifai, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Technical and Vocational Education, emphasized that the dialogue aims to create an effective model for private-sector involvement in vocational education. This initiative follows a comprehensive review completed in December 2024 for this purpose.

The workshop, part of a series of coordination activities by the ministry, is being conducted in collaboration with UNESCO across the country. The ministry's statement highlighted that this effort is in preparation for the implementation phase of job-based education in several pilot schools, in partnership with private sector institutions.
