EEC: Engineering exports jump to $2bn in first half of 2023

The Export Council for Engineering Industries (EEC) announced that the sector’s exports increased by 1% during the first half of 2023, reaching $2.002 billion compared to $1.982 billion in the same period last year.

In its monthly report, EEC said June exports upped by 4 percent, hitting $339.7 million compared with $327.6 in the previous year.

The report said cables were the most important products which increased by 53.7, while cars’ components jumped by 69.4 percent and exports of electricity and electronics went up by 44.1 percent.

EEC’s exports to list of European countries were topped by Turkey, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic and Belgium.

In Asia, Saudi ranked first among the most important importers, followed by UAE, Lebanon and then Oman, while in Africa the list was topped by Algeria, Libya, Sudan and Nigeria.
