Energy Minister Inaugurates Advanced Petroleum, Petrochemicals Laboratory in Aqaba

Aqaba: Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Thursday inaugurated an advanced petroleum derivatives and petrochemicals laboratory established by the Jordan Oil Terminals Company (JOTC).

According to Jordan News Agency, Kharabsheh stated that developing advanced laboratories offering integrated services in quality assurance, testing, and accreditation across the energy sector aligns with His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives and the Economic Modernization Vision. He emphasized that the laboratory represents a significant addition to Jordan's energy infrastructure, providing accurate and reliable specialized analytical services. Kharabsheh also highlighted the importance of advancing institutional readiness and technical capacity amid accelerating technological and industrial developments.

Kharabsheh further stressed the importance of public-private partnerships as a key driver of sustainable development, improved service quality, and a competitive operational environment capable of bolstering Jordan's position in regional energy markets.

For his part, JOTC General Manager Ashraf Rawashdeh remarked that the laboratory marks a major milestone in the company's expansion and reflects its commitment to operational excellence and innovation. He added that the facility supports the Ministry of Energy's plans to upgrade national oil-sector infrastructure and strengthens JOTC's ambitions to expand its technical services and regional presence.

Rawashdeh noted that the new laboratories provide integrated services in testing, quality assurance, and accreditation for petroleum derivatives and petrochemicals using advanced, internationally certified technologies. He said JOTC signed an agreement with Bureau Veritas, a global leader in inspection, testing, and accreditation, to provide technical expertise and ensure full compliance with international best practices.
