Baku: Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh participated in discussions with Sultan Al-Jaber, the President of COP28, during the sidelines of COP29 held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Radaideh expressed his appreciation for the UAE's significant achievements at COP28, notably the UAE Consensus for Climate Action. According to Jordan News Agency, the Minister also met with Mukhtar Babayev, the President of COP29, where he reiterated Jordan's support for Azerbaijan's leadership. Radaideh highlighted the importance of reaching a global agreement on new quantitative climate objectives, emphasizing that the current conference aims to add an executive dimension to climate initiatives. In his address, Al-Jaber encouraged all parties to agree on a new quantitative target to implement the UAE consensus, fostering partnerships and enhancing global efforts to maintain the 1.5°C target. He emphasized the world's potential to adapt and increase efforts for unified climate action. Babayev remarked that climate change impacts are already evident, urging for increased ambition and collaboration through effective execution mechanisms. The conference seeks to develop an ambitious plan for climate stabilization and the advancement of clean and renewable energy transitions.
