The Ministry of Environment warned of the khamasini dusty depression currently affecting the Kingdom and urged citizens to abide by precautionary measures including wearing face masks and closing windows and doors.

Minister of Environment Muawieh Radaideh has previously warned of staying outside for a long time including the elderly, individuals with respiratory and pregnant women, namely, when the Air Quality Index (AQI) in monitoring stations exceeds level three in which healthy people may experience slight irritations and sensitive individuals will be slightly affected to a larger extent.

Secretary- General of the Environment Ministry told Petra, on Tuesday, that the impact of the khamasini dusty depression will deepen during today’s evening hours until tomorrow’s noon.

He added that al-Hasa Monitoring Station has reached level six, a dangerous status for humans, in which healthy people will experience reduced endurance in activities and may also show noticeably strong symptoms and elders and the sick should remain indoors and avoid any activity.

Public health risks increase as the AQI rises, especially affecting children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular issues. During these times, the public are generally encouraged to reduce physical activity outdoors, or even avoid going out altogether.
