New york: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday urged all countries that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine to do so, denouncing what he described as an ongoing genocide in Gaza. In an address to the opening of the high-level debate of the 80th UN General Assembly, Erdogan said Gaza's residents "are not only being killed by weapons but also by starvation" and expressed regret over the absence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from the gathering.

According to Jordan News Agency, Erdogan warned that grave events were casting a dark shadow over the UN Charter, highlighting that the war in Gaza has continued for more than 700 days, resulting in the deaths of over 20,000 children. He emphasized that there is no logic that justifies Israel's actions in Gaza, describing the current situation as one of humanity's darkest moments.

Erdogan accused Israel of displacing Gaza's residents, targeting hospitals, and depriving the enclave of medicine, with the mass killings being broadcast live. He claimed that Israel deliberately killed 250 journalists and criticized the UN for its failure to protect its own staff in Gaza.

Erdogan insisted on the need to speak out against the situation in Gaza, asserting that despite censorship attempts, Israel has been unable to conceal the reality on the ground.
