Brussels: The European Commission announced that the UN Security Council's resolution on Gaza is a significant stride toward formulating a comprehensive plan to resolve the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to Jordan News Agency, EU foreign policy spokesperson Anouar El Anouni, in a press briefing, highlighted that the resolution is pivotal in reinforcing the ceasefire, facilitating large-scale humanitarian aid, and paving the way for early recovery, reconstruction, and institutional reform in Gaza, following two years of intense conflict.
El Anouni noted that the resolution establishes a foundation for proceeding to the next phase, which includes considerations for an international stabilization force and the formation of a peace council. He emphasized that the EU is committed to working closely with the UN and regional partners to support the resolution's implementation in accordance with international law.
The spokesperson called on all involved parties to adhere strictly to the resolution's provisions and to commence the comprehensive plan without delay. He reaffirmed the EU's willingness to assist in reviving the political dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting and sustainable peace, grounded in a two-state solution as delineated in the Security Council resolution.
