Export House Launches Initiative to Boost Jordanian Exports

Amman:Export House has introduced the "From Local to Global" program to assist Jordanian small and medium-sized industrial and service companies in entering regional and global markets for the first time. This initiative is a collaborative effort with the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) and under the oversight of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

According to Jordan News Agency, the program aims to enhance the export capabilities of Jordanian companies by increasing their market readiness and knowledge of international market requirements. It will offer technical and financial support to 100 companies throughout Jordan, provided they are officially registered, privately owned, and affiliated with a Jordanian chamber of industry or commerce.

Yarub Qudah, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, highlighted the significance of diversifying export products and markets over the past two decades to bolster the national economy against regional and international fluctuations. He emphasized the necessity of expanding exports due to the limited size of the domestic market and noted the government's focus on strengthening the private sector's capacity to meet global market demands.

Qudah also mentioned that the Industry Support Fund has allocated approximately JD80 million over the last two and a half years, supported by German funding of £35 million. An agreement with the World Bank for an additional $80 million is in progress to further finance these initiatives.

Maher Matalka, Chairman of Export House, stated that enhancing Jordanian exports is a collective responsibility that involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including the ministry, JEDCO, and both public and private sector partners. He noted that the program is crucial for implementing the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Export Strategy, which now prioritizes the services sector alongside industries.

Matalka encouraged eligible companies to participate in the program to transition from understanding markets to actively engaging in them and transforming export opportunities into tangible growth.
