FAO and Advance Consulting Sign Agreement to Enhance Climate-Smart Agriculture in Jordan

Amman: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Advance Consulting (Fal) signed an agreement on Sunday to provide technical assistance and training in climate-smart agriculture for local institutions and civil society organizations in the governorates of Madaba, Karak, Tafileh, and Ma'an.

According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement falls under the "Building Resilience to Climate Change in Jordan" (BRCCJ) project, which aims to enhance water use efficiency in agriculture.

FAO Representative in Jordan, Nabil Assaf, said the agreement reaffirms FAO's commitment to strengthening the capacity of local institutions and civil society organizations to adapt to climate change by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed for climate-smart agricultural practices. This, he added, will help communities build sustainable and resilient livelihoods.

Lamia Dabbas, Regional Director of Advance Consulting (Fal), emphasized that the agreement will provide scalable and practical solutions to address the urgent need for sustainable agriculture and efficient water use, fostering resilience and driving positive change in these communities.

The initiative contributes to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
