FAO Launches Workshop Series for Climate-Smart Agriculture in Madaba

Amman: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) launched a training program in Madaba on Monday to boost local climate resilience and agricultural water efficiency.

According to Jordan News Agency, the workshops aim to empower civil society organizations (CSOs) to lead environmental awareness and climate adaptation efforts. The program builds on consultations across Madaba, Karak, Tafileh, and Ma'an to address regional priorities in water management and climate-smart agriculture.

Samia Akroush, FAO Policy Specialist, stated that the project focuses on building local capacity, implementing climate-smart practices, and supporting sustainable agricultural development.

The training, organized with the Jordanian National Commission for Women in Madaba, covers climate impacts, sustainable water management, rainwater harvesting, and community engagement. CSOs will receive theoretical training from the Scientific Sustainable Vision for Engineering and Environment.

The workshop series will extend to Karak, Tafileh, and Ma'an to broaden community participation and drive local initiatives.

Funded by the Green Climate Fund, the project is executed in partnership with the UNDP and the ministries of Agriculture, Water and Irrigation, and Environment.
