Amman: A progress report on the Economic Modernization Vision's 2026-2029 executive program showcased advances in Jordan's transport and logistics sectors during the first half of the year. According to Jordan News Agency, design work concluded for the King Hussein Bridge terminal, and new operations launched to enhance public bus routes connecting Amman with governorates and districts. Meanwhile, two new ride-hailing services received operating licenses. Crews completed site evaluations for updates to the Irbid and Salt ring roads, broke ground on a bridge along the Irbid Ring Road, and launched highway maintenance nationwide. Meanwhile, utility finishings wrapped up at the Durra Border Crossing ahead of upcoming construction tenders.
Customs modernized its operations by building new anti-smuggling centers in Karameh and Azraq, reviewing procedures across 16 units, and streamlining trade protocols for 26 key commodities on the Jordan Trade Portal. A new port management and truck control system went live in Aqaba to streamline supply chains. Economic data showed the transport and storage sector generated JD522 million in gross domestic product during the first quarter, while customs facilities processed 1.46 million e-commerce bills and 16,366 declarations.
