Five-Member Committee convenes at Pine Palace, underlines need for resolving presidential vacuum crisis

The Five-Member Committee held a meeting at the Pine Palace today, during which 'the importance of electing a president of the republic was stressed due to the threat Lebanon faces in wake of the presidential vacuum, the price of which is paid by Lebanon and the Lebanese.' The meeting was an opportunity to emphasize the unity of the five-member committee, as its holding was important in light of the prevailing circumstances. There was also "emphasis on keeping pace with the Lebanese people in finding a solution to the presidential vacuum," whereby the attendees expressed the international community's view that the status quo cannot persist.
