Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, stressed on Monday the urgent need to take concrete steps to end the humanitarian catastrophe exacerbated by Israeli aggression on Gaza. Safadi highlighted Jordan's call for immediate action during the Emergency Humanitarian Response Conference for Gaza held on June 11, 2024, noting that the situation demands even greater urgency today as the aggression continues to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. According to Jordan News Agency, speaking at the Cairo Conference to Enhance Humanitarian Response in Gaza, held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Safadi emphasized the need for an effective international stance to open all border crossings and enable UN agencies, particularly UNRWA, whose role is indispensable, to deliver support to the Palestinian people in Gaza. He described Gaza as a graveyard for children, international law, and humanitarian values due to the ongoing aggression. "In Jor dan, we have done everything within our power to ensure the delivery of aid to Gaza," Safadi said. "We carried out the largest humanitarian airdrop operation since the Berlin Airdrop during World War II and continue to provide as much support as we can." Safadi revealed that Jordan has developed a comprehensive plan to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza and called on all nations to participate in supporting and implementing it. He reiterated that the priority must remain stopping the aggression, achieving a permanent ceasefire, and delivering the necessary aid to the starving people of Gaza children, women, and men who are dying from violence and starvation. Safadi warned of the ongoing war waged by Israel in the West Bank, where settlers continue to terrorize the Palestinian people, and illegal Israeli measures, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, and forced displacement, threaten the two-state solution. He also cautioned against dangerous political rhetoric denying Palestinians their humanit y and their right to live in dignity and peace like other nations worldwide. Safadi underscored that only a just peace one that realizes an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967, borders, living in security and peace alongside Israel based on the two-state solution can guarantee regional security and stability. In addition, Safadi held discussions with several foreign ministers and representatives at the conference, focusing on bilateral relations, efforts to stop the aggression on Gaza, and other regional issues, including developments in Syria. He also participated in a consultative meeting with Arab foreign ministers and representatives attending the conference. Safadi met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar; Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq; Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Egypt; Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud , Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia; Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil; Tanja Fajon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia; Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain; and Luis Gilberto Murillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia. Additionally, Safadi met with Sergey Vershinin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, and Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Education and Foreign Affairs of Singapore.
