Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, on Tuesday, conveyed a message from His Majesty King Abdullah to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, focusing on the deeply-rooted ties between Jordan and the state of Palestine.

The message also focused on launching serious negotiations that will contribute to achieving just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, upholding the ceasefire and halting the Israeli illegal practices in the occupied Palestinian territories.

For his part, the Palestinian president conveyed his greeting to King Abdullah, praising His Majesty’s clear stances in support of Palestinians’ rights.

In a joint press statement, Safadi along with Palestinian counterpart Riyadh al-Maliki, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s historical stance towards the Palestinian cause, in accordance with international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Safadi stressed the need to halt the Israeli aggressions at Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, adding that the eviction of Palestinian families from their homes is a war crime, which will poor into escalating the situation there again.

The U.S. administration’s stance towards the two-state solution, settlements, population transfer, and unilateral steps that undermine the chances of achieving peace are all positive positions with which we interact positively, Safadi said.

Commenting on the Gaza reconstruction, Safadi said the government is coordinating with the Palestinian National Authority, stressing the importance of the commitment to the Palestinian cause.

For his part, al-Maliki praised Jordan’s supportive stance, congratulating His Majesty the King, the Jordanian government and the people of Jordan on the occasion of Jordan’s 75th Independence Day.
