Alula: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi participated in the opening session of the Munich Leaders Meeting (MLM), titled “Seeking Common Ground: The Middle East in a Multipolar World.”
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting in the Saudi city of AlUla saw the presence of key figures such as Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, and Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Special Presidential Envoy to Lebanon. Safadi engaged in multiple discussions with counterparts and officials from the region and around the world, focusing on bilateral relations and the ongoing efforts to halt the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
During his interactions, Safadi emphasized the importance of unified efforts to stop the Israeli aggression in Gaza, address the famine, and initiate a genuine push for a just peace based on the two-state solution as per international legitimacy resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. He expressed appreciation for US President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the conflict and underscored the value of collaboration with Washington to achieve regional peace.
Safadi further welcomed Trump’s initiatives aimed at ending the war, rebuilding Gaza, preventing Palestinian displacement, and advancing comprehensive peace. He also highlighted Trump’s declaration against the annexation of the West Bank. In addition to these topics, Safadi discussed reconstruction support in Syria and the quest for stability in Lebanon as well as other regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Throughout the meeting, Safadi held discussions with various officials, including Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, Lebanon’s Minister of National Defense Major General Michel Manassa, German Federal Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and Development Niels Annen, and State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Defense Nils Hilmer. He also met with the French special envoy to Lebanon, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Southern Neighbourhood Javier Colomina, First Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Hana Jalloul, and Mora Namdar, Senior Official for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the US Department of State.
