Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Committee, MP Fadi Alameh, on Tuesday met with Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Maria Hadjitheodosiou, at the House of Parliament. Ambassador Hadjitheodosiou reaffirmed Cyprus's official stance against using its territory as a launchpad for military actions against Lebanon. Discussions between the pair also covered the security situation in southern Lebanon, the extent of damage due to ongoing hostilities, and Lebanon's commitment to implementing UN Resolution 1701. The Cypriot ambassador expressed hope for a political settlement to end the current crisis. The meeting also addressed the issue of displacement, which significantly impacts both Lebanon and Cyprus, with the ambassador expressing full understanding of Lebanon's efforts to find a sustainable solution to this issue. Building Licenses Rise 3.2% in First Half of 2026
Amman: The number of building licenses issued in the Kingdom rose by 3.2 percent in the first half of 2026, reaching 12,070 compared with 11,700 in the same period of 2025, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said Monday.
