Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi presided over the 163rd session of the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level. Safadi opened the session by expressing gratitude to Yemen for its leadership during the previous session and reaffirming Jordan's commitment to advancing collective Arab efforts for regional stability and peace.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi emphasized the importance of establishing a sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, advocating for a peaceful coexistence alongside Israel based on the June 4, 1967 lines. He underscored this as the sole path to achieving the comprehensive peace outlined in the Arab Peace Initiative.

Safadi called for an immediate halt to the Israeli military operations in Gaza, stressing the urgency of ending the violence and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Palestinians in need. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in mediating the conflict and emphasized the need to uphold existing agreements.

Jordan, Safadi pledged, will persist in opposing Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank that threaten peace and the two-state solution. He reiterated Jordan's dedication to safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites under the Hashemite custodianship.

Safadi also welcomed the participation of Syria and Lebanon in the session, expressing support for Syria's rebuilding efforts and Lebanon's security. He affirmed Jordan's solidarity with the legitimate Yemeni government and reiterated the importance of supporting Libya and Sudan in their quests for peace and stability.

In his speech, Safadi highlighted the Arab League's historical role in promoting Arab unity and collective action. He called for enhanced operational tools to strengthen the League's effectiveness, emphasizing Jordan's commitment to fostering Arab solidarity for a secure and prosperous future.
